The Orland Community Resilience Committee (OCRC) is excited to let the community know about
related summer activities that benefit the town.
With the expert assistance of our property management team of Mike Malenfant and Karen Lanpher and
of our service provider team, Resilience Works LLC, the Town submitted a Community Action Grant
application to the Maine Community Resilience Partnership on Aug. 25, 2025 to replace windows in the
retail wing of the Orland Community Center. We should receive notification about the outcome of our
application in early winter.
Back in mid-March, Orland became one of 14 Maine municipalities to be awarded Technical Assistance
under the Energy Efficiency Planning for Rural Communities Program (EEPRC). That award led to an
energy audit of the Community Center and Town Office, providing confirmation of the priority need to
replace windows in the community center.
Current OCRC activities focus on learning and adopting software, “Portfolio Manager,” for reporting
on energy use in the town’s public buildings and defining opportunities for future energy
use savings. The OCRC welcomes community members interested in assisting the committee, our
property manager and the Board of Selectmen in documenting and improving energy use in the
