The Town of Orland was incorporated in 1800, formerly known as "Plantation #2" on the east side of the Penobscot River.
As of the year 2020, the population was 2,221 people.
Transfer Station Closed 4/5/2026: The Orland Transfer Station will be closed Sunday, April 5th, 2026, in observance of Easter. The Transfer Station will re-open for normal business hours on Wednesday, April 8th,2026.
