The Town of Orland was incorporated in 1800, formerly known as "Plantation #2" on the east side of the Penobscot River.
As of the year 2020, the population was 2,221 people.

Keeping Your Online Accounts Safe: A free class, KEEPING YOUR ONLINE ACCOUNTS SAFE, will be held WEDNESDAY, MARCH 26TH, from 10:00 – 11:00 am, at the Orland Community Center, 21 Schoolhouse Road, Orland. This course is sponsored by the Orland Broadband Committee and the National Digital Equity Center (NDEC). This class walks you through the process of creating an online account. We also discuss how to recover your password should you forget it, what the potential issues are for privacy and safety, and how to best navigate those issues.
