The Town of Orland was incorporated in 1800, formerly known as "Plantation #2" on the east side of the Penobscot River.
As of the year 2020, the population was 2,221 people.

Nomination Papers Available: Nomination Papers are available for (1) Selectman and Overseer of the Poor - 3 year term, (1) Assessor - 3 year term, and (1) Fish Committee Member - 4 year term, at the Orland Town Office, Tuesday-Friday, 8am-12pm & 1pm-5pm, and the 1st and 3rd Thursday evening each month from 6:30pm-8pm. Completed papers must be returned to the Town Office by 5pm on April 14, 2023.
