The Town of Orland was incorporated in 1800, formerly known as "Plantation #2" on the east side of the Penobscot River.
As of the year 2020, the population was 2,221 people.
Nomination Papers: The Town of Orland has nomination papers available for the following positions: Selectman and Overseer of the Poor 3 years Assessor 3 years (2) Fish Committee Member 4 years Nomination papers are available at the Orland Town Office, Tuesday-Friday, 8am-12pm & 1pm-5pm; and the 1st and 3rd Thursday evenings each month from 5:30pm-7pm. Completed papers must be returned to the Town Office by 5pm on April 10, 2026.
