Orland Luminary Ceremony: Brighten up Orland’s shortest days with a little candle and community cheer on Saturday December 20th. Put a luminary in your yard, in front of your house, or help others place luminaries throughout the Village and along Castine Road starting at 2:15pm on Saturday December 20th at the Old Fire Station located at 91 School House Road Orland. Dress warmly, wear bright visible clothing and bring seasonal/solstice cheer. Snacks afterwards at a location to be determined. Selectmen from the four towns plus representatives from Toddy Pond Association and Alamoosook Lake Association will explain the process to establish two watershed districts to secure the lakes and dams for the future and answer your questions.

 

Preliminary anticipated budgets and how it will be funded will be explained, including costs for individual property owners, both lakefront owners AND non lakefront owners. A cost estimator has been developed to show property owners their costs to protect the lakes vs. their costs should the lakes be dewatered.

 

We encourage people to attend one of the meetings in person but if that is impossible, Zoom meetings will be held on Sept. 16th and Sept. 18th. Details will follow on the Town websites.     More info @:
