Transfer Station

Decals

A Town decal on your vehicle is required for access. To get one, bring your auto registration or a copy of your real estate tax bill to the transfer station.

Disposal Rules

• Household waste: Place in bags in the compactor. No fee.
• Liquids: Not accepted.
• Paint cans: Dry out and remove lids.
• Seafood shells: Bag in plastic and place in the household compactor.
• Leaves, grass, and garden clippings: Bag and place in a compactor.
• Tree limbs and brush: Up to 6 feet long and 6 inches in diameter. Place in the brush pile.
• Metal, large or small, including clean cans: Place in Bin 4 (fee applies, see below).
• Tires: Remove from rims. Place in Bin 7 (fee applies, see below).

Disposal Fees (updated August 1, 2026)

• Prices are subject to change.
• Household demolition (Bins 3, 5, and 6): $5 minimum for an arm load, up to $40 per load depending on size and density
• Metal (Bin 4): $5 minimum for an arm load, up to $30 per load depending on size and density
• Asphalt shingles: $15 to $30 (limit 2 loads per household)
• Mattresses, box springs, and furniture: $10 each
• Refrigerators, freezers, air conditioners, and dehumidifiers: $20 each (refrigerator and freezer doors must be removed)
• Stoves, washers, and dryers: $10 each
• Tires (Bin 7, removed from rims): $10 each
• TVs and monitors: $3 each (place inside the garage)
• PCs and laptops: $2 each
• Lithium batteries: $1 each (car batteries: no charge)
• Cell phones, thermostats, and smoke detectors: $1 each
• Fluorescent tubes: $0.50 per foot
• CFLs and similar bulbs: $0.50 each

Re-Use Shop

When weather permits, the transfer station runs a re-use shop, similar to a thrift shop. We accept donations of household items for resale. Prices are by donation, and the money collected helps offset the cost of running the transfer station. Please move your vehicle forward from the high-traffic area around the bins while you visit the shop.
